VERY CUTE.

I adored this. For 100 pages I felt like I genuinely got a lot of story to be rooting for this couple. Plenty of emails, a dash of Valentine’s and when they finally met? SO CUTE. This was a romantic gem.

I have no idea how in 61 pages I felt like I got a well thought out story. I loved the characters. I thought the meet-cute was definitely clever and this made me smile a lot! Even burst out laughing too.

Not as into this one. The idea was there, but I didn’t love the execution. This would have benefited from even just a few more pages to add a better back story.

This was not very good. No build up, no true conversation, just how fast can we get into bed without actually knowing each other.

ZERO DEPTH.

This felt like it was missing A LOT to actually make the story work. The flashback chapters weren’t that helpful either. While I thought the couple had some chemistry, I didn’t like how this went about accomplishing that fact.

This felt way too condensed. To even add in a third act breakup in a 70 page novella? After one day? And everyone was lying?

So many things did not work for me in this one. I’d say this is my least favorite of the bunch.

SO CLOSE.

Okay. I legitimately loved a lot of this book. I read it in a day. Kept going back to it kind of enjoyed. I thought the premise was fun and unique. I liked the cosmetics and chemistry combination and it made for a lot of great dialogue and witty puns. The love interest, Marco? FIRE. He was a super swoony gem. Just the sweetest and I loved all of the fake dating aspects that arose too. And the kisses were perfectly fiery which sells me on a fantastic book too.

BUT BUT BUT

There’s only so much obliviousness I can take from a FMC. Her best friend having to tell her multiple times that Marco was in love with her, refusing to believe that Craig could be anything but a perfect angel and not ever learning how to accept a compliment bugged me. It was 90% through the book and all of this was still happening in one capacity or another.

If Anna had been even a little more self aware I would have bumped this higher.

A BIT CRINGEY.

That’s the biggest thought I have. How ultimately, a lot of this romance had me cringing.

I liked the initial premise and set-up. A down on his luck QB, trying to make a new start and building a better future. He meets the coaches daughter and sparks fly. It was a bit insta-lovey, but not enough to make me want to stop right then. Half of the time I really did enjoy the chemistry between Logan and Jess.

Personally felt victimized by the forceful nature of emotions it was trying to make me feel. Filling it with many, many dark backgrounds for characters involved that just didn’t fit the rest of the vibes of the book. I don’t mind such things, they need to work together for the story, not opposing.

The ending was sweet and I liked how that played out (minus the over the top dramatic flair). Cute epilogue. Won’t be continuing this series.

The lessons begin. The guards come down. But there’s another hitch they weren’t betting on. As for that cue-the-orchestra-and-roll-credits happy ending? It might take more than practice to make it perfect.

THE DOGS WERE CUTE.

This was a quick and sweet read! Lots of swoony moments and I was really feeling this trope! It was fun to get a movie star + normal girl read. I haven’t read many that I loved and this would definitely rank up there. It was well-paced and I wanted to keep reading it so that’s a positive.

I liked the initial premise of beaing a seat filler, because honestly, where can I sign up? A nice meet-cute and lots of good banter between the two main characters. I enjoyed all of the dogs that were in it and liked most of the plot. Sometimes very dramatic and over the top, yet I guess when a movie star is involved it can be expected?

Juilet’s character wasn’t always my favorite. She started off strong. Then I would feel like she came off childish and I would want to roll my eyes at her inner monologue. With the big conflict towards the end, I didn’t love how either party handled the situation. And that’s always something I look for in romances. How all of that is handled at the end.

I don’t have a lot to say because it was a simple read, but not necessarily memorable.
