BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT.

I don’t even want to write this review. I am incredibly frustrated by this one.

First of all, why did we spend so much time with Dante? He’s THE FREAKING WORST. And took up way too many pages with his over the top dramatics and trying way too hard to be a villain. It didn’t work. I missed Lore.

Lore is the only aspect I remember liking. I enjoyed his possessive and protective side, per usual. Aaaaand that’s about it.

Fallon got on my nerves some more. And the plot took a bunch of random directions with info dumping (in this, the third book mind you) to try to create more story??? I don’t know. I was confused. Disconnected. And just begging this book to be over.

And now that I know who the spin-off is about I thought it was an odd choice too? I wanted to be able to say, read this series, and now I feel like I can’t say that. Books one and two were very enjoyable. This one left me wanting in about 100 different ways.

NEW FAV.

This will probably be my favorite of this series. I was VERY surprised when I realized this had new points of view (I’m not a synopsis reader by nature). After that shock and settling into the story I became HOOKED on this romance.

I looooved Celeste and Asher. Oh my goodness. This is how you write a fated romance. There’s good banter and some enemies vibes. Celeste is actually reasonable once she learned all of the facts and allowed Asher in more. Asher is a PROTECTIVE ALPHA type and I could not get enough of him showing up and taking others down.

The larger conflict of the story continued progressing too and once I figured out what the author was creating with the entire series I immediately became curious in seeing this through. I am excited to read the finale.

Plenty of action, politicking, intrigue and very good amount of swoon. This series is clearly underrated.

IT WENT THERE.

I’ve heard about this book in passing and I’ve been enjoying this author’s newest series so time to do some back list diving. AND OH MY GOSH. I still haven’t recovered from that ending!!!! I am emotionally DISTRAUGHT.

I enjoyed a lot of this. Though I think I tend to struggle with Wildenstein’s FMC’s. One again Leigh was a bit too meh for me. I wish she had more of a backbone. I know there’s supposed to be this big contrast between Leigh and Jarod, but something was missing from that aspect. Otherwise I loved the romance. It has forbidden written nicely all of it and I AM HERE FOR IT. They had good chemistry and for spice fans, this personally went past my spice line, but to each their own!

The plot is well crafted and I’m grateful for the explanations of world building and magic system. It helps make the ending make more sense too. I’m curious how the politics of it all lay out. I couldn’t put this book down and must find out what happens next.

Well hi there new fantasy romance indie book. I LIKED YOU A LOT.

This was a pretty good start. I liked the beginning but there was a particular scene I’m still thinking really didn’t need to be added. And after that point things slowed down a bit so I was in limbo wondering how I would feel about the book overall.

The second half showed up big time. It had many things I always turn back to in fantasy romance reads. I love hidden identities, a FMC who’s realizing her own worth and power, changing alliances and allllll of those secrets revealed. I do think Fallon was a bit on the naïve and super oblivious side, but I’ll cut her some slack to make it up in the next book.

I enjoyed the plot too. It’s a good mix of warring kingdoms, with new people rising to the throne and even kingdoms you didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to further explore those politics and dynamics in the series too. This was just a really nice beginning and my first book by this author.
