Anyways. I finally swung back around to reading the next book in this series and very much enjoyed the journey! I loved the train level dynamic and the chaos that ensued. And I am obsessed with the audiobook narrator who does such an incredible job on all of these voices and bringing this story to life. It is such an easy book to pick up and continue and feel invested.

I liked that this added a relationship to Carl that wasn’t Donut. NO, it is not romantic (and that’s totally fine, I’m not expecting one), but it was nice to get some more relations to their motley crew and see those bonds develop. I hope to see more of them and how they fit into the larger plot. I’m heavily attached to this quirky found family.

Great read, I liked the continuation of the plot and I’m looking forward to the next book!

WHAT A SURPRISE.

Not that I was expecting not to like this? It’s just absolutely not my usual. But after my Dad and husband (and a few friends) all asked if I have read this yet, HERE WE ARE, I READ IT NOW ARE YOU HAPPY?

It is an incredibly clever story. The concept is wild and unique and I could not tell you one thing I for sure thought would happen as the book unfolded. I was along for the ride with Carl and I loved how well the audiobook was produced. The voices and video game feel was perfect. Highly recommend that format if you’re wanting to try this. I even caught myself laughing out loud multiple times.

It’s definitely a *boy book* but one I can get behind. I heard the character arc is amazing and I will be continuing this series soon!!

ENJOYABLE SEQUEL.

I don’t have much to say about this installment?? It was a good, but not GREAT sequel. There’s definitely enough momentum that I will be picking up book three. I still delight in the uniqueness of this series and how different it is from my usual stories. I find the world fascinating and I’m always curious where each turn will lead. I feel like there’s a lot we don’t know yet and I’m super curious where it’s all going to lead.

Carl and Princess Donut are humorous and easy to follow. I like all of the video game pieces and NPC’s. There’s more achievements and another level conquered. I’ll be getting to book three soooooon!
