Excuse me? THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING.

From the beginning I was wrapped up into this story. I enjoyed book one, and this blew it out of the water. I am officially attached to these characters, the plot and everything else in-between.

I loooove that it was dual POV. There’s a lot of complex emotions and hard choices to make. It all tore at my heart and made me ache. I love how this was written though. It felt real, with flawed characters doing their best, trying to take that next step forward and realizing what things you have to let go.

The romance picked up in ways I had been hoping for and I am HERE FOR IT. I love this found family and the new people that are being taken into the group. The other subtle relationships that may be popping up. The intensity at which I hate the antagonists. How the plot moves through fast and quiet times seamlessly. THE ANGST AT WHICH THIS ROMANCE BRINGS ME TO MY KNEES.

It’s all here, it’s all fantastic. Time to read this series.

Wanda is truly in the midst of some testing times. Her boyfriend is still trapped in another world, and her exams are being constantly rescheduled. The latest change of plans, though, was for a very good reason – the examiner has died.

The death seems to have been a natural one – after all, the woman was ill. But her familiar, an owl called Minerva, is convinced it was murder, and Wanda wants to help – even if Minerva seems determined to go it alone.

There are other problems for Wanda to contend with. Her friend Gretel is growing in clumsiness and losing her confidence. As for the new Max, he is becoming dangerously accident prone.

Can Wanda solve all of these problems, catch the killer, and pass her exams? And can she ever bring the real Max home?

ALMOST FINISHED.

I can’t believe I’m a book away from finishing this series!

This installment was (as per usual) a good one. I enjoyed the mystery and that things were still progressing with the larger plot. I do feel like there’s a lot that’s supposed to be wrapped up in the last book which makes me nervous for seeing how it all comes together.

Who does Wanda end up with? Are all the foes vanquished? This is such a fun series that hits all of my cozy mystery love and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something to switch things up.

Book Review: Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata

The problem with secrets is that they’re too easy to keep collecting.

Luna Allen has done some things she would rather no one ever know about. She also knows that, if she could go back in time, she wouldn’t change a single thing.

With three sisters she loves, a job she (mostly) adores, and a family built up of friends she’s made over the years, Luna figures everything has worked out the way it was supposed to.

But when one of those secrets involves the man who signs her paycheck, she can’t find it in her to regret it. Despite the fact that he’s not the friendliest man in the world. Or the most patient.

Sometimes there are things you’re better off keeping to yourself.

CONFLICTED.

Okay so I feel like I want to rate this more specifically at somewhere around 3.75. The readability is still amazing. I don’t know what MZ puts in her books but the way I DEVOUR 600 pages is unreal. I love it. The excitement was there too. I wanted to keep going, I wanted to watch this love story unfold, buuuut there were some misses.

I’m one of those who can be picky about pet names. And with the age gap already in play, adding in baby girl as the name just didn’t do it for me. What I did love was the alpha possessiveness and jealousy that Ripley exhibited. I was in the mood for this kind of MMC and it did not disappoint. Every time he showed up you could see me going, YESSSSS! Here for it all. And the sweet ways he would take care of Luna?? Can’t handle. Give it all to me.

The plot has some intrigue and mystery that I liked. There was attention given to the slow unveiling of backgrounds and stories that brought Luna and Rip together. I enjoyed the car shop setting and love that it was a unique set-up compared to most romance books I’ve happened to have read.

Definitely not my favorite MZ book, but still insanely enjoyable and I’m glad to have picked it up. Can’t wait to continue my backlist reading!
