BEAUTIFUL CONCLUSION.

I can’t believe I finished this series!! It’s so satisfying to do so and I’m also going to miss all of these characters.

This cast was full of the found family love that I enjoy so much. I loved watching more arcs continue through them and to even see some characters get the ending they deserved too. I can’t talk a lot about it because I want everyone to go read this series and report back. But this group is easily one of my favorites of recent fantasy book memory.

If I was being a little nit picky I do wish one plot point was resolved a bit sooner. That’s just me and my romantic heart wanting more from that angle.

Otherwise, epic conclusion. Action packed and everything is wrapped up well. I was able to close the book on the story and I have loved the thousands of pages covered over all SEVEN of these books. I know the number may seem daunting, trust me it’s worth it!

KERIS.

I binge read this on release day because I have no chill (and also I loathe spoilers so it becomes a necessity). ANYWAYS. I loved this. It was a great wrap up to Keris and Zarrah’s storyline.

I ADORE Keris. I loved his character progression throughout. He had a lot of hard choices and had to find a way to help his kingdom. I loved his passion (maybe a bit of an obsession) with making sure Zarrah was safe. It provided an arc that I was here for. He’s full of swoon and romantic moments.

Zarrah showed some solid character changes too. I liked getting her POV and seeing the subtle moments as she continued to struggle with the the truths of her life were unraveling.

I didn’t love some of the romantic scenes. One just flat wasn’t for me and I wish there would have been more general alone/quiet time. I LOVED all of the action, don’t get me wrong, but it made me ache a bit to see Keris and Zarrah together more.

There’s some perfectly placed Lara and Aren moments (of which I will hear NO SLANDER about). I thought it concluded well and the small hints about Ahnna have me excited to see even more of this world.

It may have triggers of love-hate themes, sexual scenes (both consensual and non), violence, and jealous/possessive themes.

I AM HOOKED.

When I started this I immediately noticed the Throne of Glass vibes it was giving off. Luckily though, over the course of the book I do think it felt different enough that I became very much attached to the storyline. So if you loved ToG, my star rating is clearly saying TRY THIS ONE.

I loved having dual POV with Sorrin and Scarlett. There’s incredible tension between them. From strangers to sort of friends to lovers to enemies. I loved all of the ups and downs. This isn’t (currently) a straight forward romance and I actually am really into that. It’s a nice mix-up from my usual fantasy romance reads. This feels spread out, playing the long game, and I’ve got 4 more books to see how it all unfolds.

The plot is enjoyable. I loved the found family vibes and the close relationship between characters. I felt all the things and some of those reveals at the end are some of my favorite to read. FAVORITE. There’s plenty of action and intrigue, some burgeoning court politics and all sorts of fae, shifters, vampires, witches and more. This was an amazing first book and I want more.

It was a great audiobook too!!
