Now I’m back in Halften, and it’s pretty clear the only thing Melissa Ellis wants for Christmas is me out of her life.

But in a town this small, it’s going to take a miracle for either of us to make it through this holiday season unscathed.

STARTED STRONG.

I was enjoying a lot of this for a long time. I liked the second chance dynamics and the love interest was really sweet. And I noticed some character growth from the FMC and those are all things I look for in a great read.

Enter in some miscommunication that just brought this down for me. I know that doesn’t bother everyone but to me, I get easily frustrated by this.

Otherwise, I thought this was a good holiday romance. And I’d still recommend giving it a go even if I thought a little differently because of personal preference. There’s some good forced proximity, taking care of someone when they’re sick, and cute holiday activities.

Noelle jumps at the chance to make this one last connection with her grandmother. There’s just one problem – Paul’s grandson is Noelle’s frustratingly handsome high-school rival Theo.

And Theo has to come, too.

It’s only two weeks. Surely Noelle can survive that long? But with one car between them – and often only one bed – it doesn’t take long for things to heat up…

REAL GOOD.

I loved this audiobook and I loved this story. It was incredibly well put together. The road trip worked well and learning more about Noelle’s grandmother and her love story really squeezed my heart.

And the romance?? Immaculate banter and chemistry. They really had things going for them from the beginning. I adored Theo and was smitten by how much he cared. The third act made me a little cranky and I also got thrown by the random psychic reading that influenced the plot way too much for me?

Otherwise though, a solid romance read. The side characters were incredible. One of my favorite aspects was that Noelle had a supportive and loving family. I don’t feel like that’s seen very often in adult romance and I loved the support. I look forward to more books by this author!

This is a sweet/clean emotional scars Christmas medical billionaire romance with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed HEA.

TOO EASY.

This book started off fine, but since it was super short, it tanked quickly.

Everything was simultaneously too easy and too dramatic. There were true attempts at working through forgiveness and listening to someone’s story before making assumptions. All good things at the core, buuut, with no further conversation after it made those deeper moments feel shallow.

And things got dramatic. I can barely remember the exact details at this point because I already felt through with the book.

It wasn’t for me.
