TIS A BIT FRUSTRATING.

I LOVED Ellie Palmer’s previous book so I knew I had to read this one, and I while I did like it (I did, promise), there were a few more frustrating things in here that I can’t move past. The way Charley treated Ethan rubbed me the wrong way a few times. When he was clearly trying to have a conversation and she was clearly trying to run away, it got old quickly.

There were a lot of good scenes and moments though. I loved the soft wilderness adventure, it felt very summery in all the best ways. And I liked the inner monologue from Charley [mostly]. It was humorous and sassy and hit those type-A personality moments well. I enjoyed the quibbling sibling dynamic and both of them coming to understand each other.

It was a quick read and I’ll still pick up EP’s next book!!

WELL THIS GOT ME.

I fully admit that after book one I wasn’t totally invested in picking this one up. I knew I would, I just wasn’t EXCITED. And for the first half of the book that’s how I felt here too. Not bad, not stellar, another new (these aren’t young adult) adult fantasy romance to check off the list.

BUT. Something clicked in that second half. I became genuinely attached to the characters and romances and the themes of the story that I was engulfed in knowing what was going to happen next. I love the way Lexi Ryan writes complicated romances that have this all consuming nature about them. That soul mate level quality of interaction that makes you truly believe these couples are meant for each other.

I loved the audiobook and the cameos from previous characters. I will absolutely be picking up whatever Ryan writes next!

WELL HERE WE GO.

Alright, it might surprise many of y’all that I’ve only read one Elsie Silver book. But I ended up listening to my sister when she said to go read it and it’s DUET NARRATION so like, of course I had to??? And yes, I do plan on continuing!! I just really love a cowboy romance y’all.

My nitpicky thing is that I don’t love bachelor-esque plots. I kept getting frustrated over the TV drama and the awful people and wanted to keep going back to Julia and Emmett.

And wow did I love Julia and Emmett. I’ve read multiple books recently where the guy is tearful about something and these emotions are everything??? ILOVEITSO. Emmett is incredibly stoic until he isn’t and I’m here for his head over heels fall for Julia. The forbidden vibes did work for me at least. These two were hella magnetic.

Minus the TV show the setting was stellar. Give me all of the ranch settings with amazing side characters who are a cheering section for the leads. This a small town I can’t wait to see more of and the future pairs too!!

OKAY THIS WAS FUN.

This really did whisk my away to wanting a summer holiday. The set up and setting were fantastic and brought me all of the poolside reading vibes that I could want.

I forgot how much I love Ali Hazelwood’s quirky FMC’s. They are so funny and relatable to me. I loved Maya and her ability to say whatever she was thinking and going after what she wanted. Two fools in love worked so well here. I thought Conor was amazing too. They truly had great chemistry and made the age gap make sense. Though I will say that was beaten over my head one too many times. I get it, they are 15 years apart. I GET IT OKAY.

Anyways, it’s swoony and hot and I loved all of the side characters, wedding shenanigans and cute moments. The whole book was a delight.
