BOOK SUMMARY:

During a summer in Italy, two best friends discover whether true love is up to destiny or free will in this winning romantic comedy by the international bestselling author of Woke Up Like This.

For generations, the fortune-telling women in Lo Zhao-Jensen’s family have foreseen The One—the great loves of their lives—before ever meeting them. Except for Lo, who has zero psychic abilities. Just memories of old rom-coms and a lot of poor judgment when it comes to love.

Until now.

When Lo finally has the vision she’s been waiting for, her delighted aunties are convinced she’ll meet The One on her backpacking trip in Italy. Vero amore, here she comes.

Along for the summer is Lo’s best friend and confidant, Teller Owens, her opposite in every way. Upon arrival in Venice, Lo is saved from a runaway trolley by Caleb, a fellow backpacker. It’s a meet-cute so swoony, it has to be fate. But with each destination, Lo’s complicated feelings for Teller are becoming harder to ignore. From the cobblestone streets of Rome to the rocky cliffs of Amalfi, Lo begins to wonder if fate has other plans.

THIS DIDN’T WORK FOR ME.

I love a lot of Amy Lea’s book and unfortunately this one is officially lowest on that ranking. I loved the traveling plot and setting, I did like Lo an Teller, I just struggled with the handling of many situations.

This is where the magical realism didn’t work for me, being so beholden to an idea that it ruins what you have in front of you dragging out the story longer than necessary. The miscommunication, as tends to be the highlight of friends to lovers romances, was frustrating too.

There’s some charming moments and I did love a few of the romantic ones too. Teller is a sweetheart and I was grateful when Lo finally decided to stop being oblivious and work things out with him.

It does read very much like a movie and honestly I think would have been better in that format.

BOOK SUMMARY:

A secret romance writer discovers that the hottest story of summer might just be the one happening between her and the Prime Minister’s bodyguard, from the international bestselling author of Set On You.

Andi Zeigler lives a double life. By day, she’s the no-nonsense, steadfast personal assistant to the Prime Minister of Canada’s wife. By night, she slips out of her heels and writes romance novels under a top-secret pen name. But when her steamiest book, The Prime Minister & Me, unexpectedly becomes a bestseller, rumors of a real-life affair between her and the PM start swirling out of control.

Enter Nolan Crosby, the PM’s new close protection officer (aka bodyguard) – and Andi’s failed one-night stand from three years ago. Nolan’s in town very temporarily to care for his mother, who’s battling early-onset Alzheimer’s. But when the scandal erupts, Andi ropes him into a fake-dating plan.

As loyal employees, they’ll pretend to date for the summer, just long enough to put the scandal to bed and save their boss’s reputation. In an unexpected plot twist, Andi and Nolan discover that keeping their romance strictly fictional might be easier said than done.

Thank you Berkley Romance for the gifted eARC.

I JUST ADORED THIS.

I’m an easy to please reader when it comes to Amy Lea’s books. I love the way she crafts stories. The main characters (duel pov y’all!!) are genuine and effortless and seeing the plot unfold always makes me feel something.

I thought the plot was engaging and covered a variety of topics well. While some heavier content is present the overall mood is hopeful and Nolan and Andi are meant to be. i could not get enough of Nolan’s constant support. It was endearing in all the ways. I thought the plot > spice which is always a pro for me.

I genuinely binged this in a day. I just couldn’t get enough. It’s sensual and swoony and full of heart. All of the hallmark romance moments were there and each one made me giddy [not to mention, no out of pocket third act nonsense either!!].

BOOK SUMMARY:

They’re back for the summer… and changing everything

Teddy’s life isn’t her own anymore. It’s been nine months since the accident, and she still can’t remember anything from before it. When all hope rests on the heart-shaped sketch from the six summers she spent in Bear Lake, she memorizes it. A last resort in the laundry list of failed attempts at restoring her memory. When it becomes just another reminder that she’s disappointing the people she loves, she vows to leave the small town at the end of the summer. Until her path collides with the two handsome faces from that sketch.

Reed is her new coworker at her summer job. He’s confident, eager to spend time with her, and hard to ignore. If it weren’t for their alluded history, she could use a friend. Miles is quiet, reluctant to open up, and pretending not to know her. Avoiding him is impossible while he’s living next door. But he’s the only one who seems to understand what she’s going through.

The more time she spends with them, the more Teddy begins to live her own life again. She’s starting over in the one place she thought she’d need to leave behind. Until a pivotal moment tests just how much she is willing to give up before she defines her future for good.

A coming-of-age romance with nostalgic heart, summer love, and second chances.

THE FEELS.

I kind of waffled with my thoughts on this one but for someone who doesn’t like flashback chapters all that much, the fact that this one had me glued to my kindle deserves the praise. I was hooked on needing to know what would happen.

And I think I’m turning over a new leaf on love triangles. I enjoyed the way this one was crafted and the emotions that went into the push and pull between Reed and Miles. There’s secrets to uncover and truths to be known as Teddy navigates recovery and her past.

It’s fast paced and now that I’ve read two Meagan Williamson books I’m officially a fan and can’t wait for her new series.

BOOK SUMMARY:

For two high school seniors, it’s seventeen going on thirty—overnight—in a magical romantic comedy about growing up too fast and living in the moment. Planning the perfect prom is one last “to do” on ultra-organized Charlotte Wu’s high school bucket list. So far, so good, if not for a decorating accident that sends Charlotte crash-landing off a ladder, face-first into her obnoxiously ripped archnemesis J. T. Renner. Worse? When Charlotte wakes up, she finds herself in an unfamiliar bed at thirty years old, with her bearded fiancé, Renner, by her side. Either they’ve lost their minds or they’ve been drop-kicked into adulthood, forever trapped in the thirty-year-old bodies of their future selves. With each other as their only constant, Charlotte and Renner discover all that’s changed in the time they’ve missed. Charlotte also learns there’s more to Renner than irritating-jock charm, and that reaching the next milestone isn’t as important as what happens in between. Navigating a series of adventures and a confounding new normal, Charlotte and Renner will do whatever it takes to find a way back to seventeen. But when—and if—they do, what then?

READ IT.

This might be my new favorite Amy Lea book (I’ve read them all at present). Gosh this was so incredibly CHARMING. It had 13 Going On 30 vibes but with a rivals to lovers angle. And BOTH of them end up in a different year together. I thought this was the perfect set up to bring out the FEELS and it delivered.

I loved the banter and snark. It’s that perfect balance of sass while also noticing the intense chemistry between Charlotte and Renner. I was obsessed with them from the get go.

There were also some great themes woven in too. I loved how Charlotte and Renner learned to look deeper and had more understanding towards each other and their situations. I loved them Charlotte learned what it meant to not be walked over by a friend and how to stand up for herself. I loved that this book brought such joy balanced with the heartache that life can be.

This is a charming delight.
