BOOK SUMMARY:

Firefighters are supposed to be the ones putting out fires, not causing sparks.

I thought I stifled everything I felt for Connor Porter over a decade ago. But now he’s back home, and I’m hit with those old feelings again, stronger than a firehose to the face.

Feelings I most certainly should not be having for my best friend’s older brother.

I’m trying to push all thoughts of Connor aside and focus on opening a flower truck when his sister persuades him to help me get my business off the ground.

Now, I’m spending more time with my childhood crush than can be considered healthy. And it’s difficult to get him out of my mind when I’m constantly being distracted by his muscular arms and thinking about how they feel when they’re wrapped around me.

My attraction to him grows into a roaring inferno, but I don’t think Connor’s ever seen me as anything other than his little sister’s friend. I need to extinguish these feelings before I’m in too deep.

It’s like that old saying if I keep playing with fire, I’m bound to get burned.

SOFT & SWEET.

Oh this book was off the charts with sweetness y’all. If you’re needing something low key and light (aren’t we all???) you should absolutely pick this one up. And if you love all things floral (me, it’s me) you’ll love all of the flower content throughout. I really need a Daffodil in my life now.

I looooved the dynamic between Shayna and Connor. It’s low angst with this genuine, strongly built over time connection. That one that shows up regardless of how long you’ve been apart. It was interesting seeing the MMC as less confident than the usual romantic male lead and I liked that arc for him as he grew and found peace with Shayna.

As often Schimoeller’s books there’s incredible friend groups and supportive and loving families. Another highlight to picking up her stories. Sometimes I really don’t want all of the excess drama and I love how fast these flow and showcase such light.

And are you kidding me…we get a baseball romance next?????

AHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I don’t even know how to put this review together because I can’t fathom how to explain HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS BOOK. It took me exactly one chapter to lock in and be glued to this book. It was an immaculate concept of OH MY GOSH WHEN ARE Y’ALL GOING TO KISS. I can’t tell you how many times I shouted that at Marlow & Georgiana. Which honestly, is my favorite way to be. This was full of YEARNING to the nth degree. And we got this cinematic masterpiece in dual POV? I’M DECEASED.

I loved everything. Every scene. Every moment. Every character. IT WAS ALL AMAZING OKAY? I didn’t want this book to end. The nuanced and deep connection Marlow and Georgiana formed sent me to the stratosphere. The late night moments were romantic and swoony and once again, you’ll be shouting at every glance, touch, and longing look across the way.

It’s stunning in all ways and is easily going to be one of the best romances I’ve read this year!!

ADORED.

This might be my favorite of the series?? I was super into this y’all. I think it helped I had read eight fantasy books prior and really needed a contemporary break-up and this hit the spot. It was big on the nostalgia and even though I was not a band girlie it totally transported me back to high school.

I appreciated that the drama wasn’t wild. Yes, it’s a bit *high school* but it worked and made sense so I’m not going to complain about that. It’s even better that this series is true young adult and that it’s easy to hand it to the age group and not worry about the content.

The romance was sweet and genuinely went from an enemies to lovers vibe (with some childhood friendship mixed in). I liked that they bantered and bickered and how that moved into meaningful conversation and hashing out the past. It was a good show of communication.

This had the right level of D&D content without overwhelming the plot (I struggle when too much of the story is just the characters playing the game). I liked the friendships and all of the band things. It was just a genuinely great read.

!!!!!!!

You may wonder why there’s exclamation points as my review starter this time, it’s because WHY WERE THERE SO MANY EXCLAMATION POINTS IN THIS BOOK. For heavens sakes even when a character said they were whispering it was with *!*. And things like “Runnnnn!!!!” alongside other variations throughout.

And the quote that sent me? “His tongue grabbed my neck.” I’m sorry, WHAT. There were multiple lines like this too?? The kiss scenes were incredibly cringy and honestly the love interest seemed to be a red flag.

I was legitimately intrigued at the beginning with the idea of The Commons. I’m kind of in a dystopian mood so I thought this would fit the bill. I WAS WRONG.

This ended up being a hate read (which I haven’t done in a hot minute). I’m just flabbergasted about many of the plot choices in this book.
