Book Tag Saturday: Night and Day Tag

I wasn’t formally tagged in this, but I found it on Kristin’s Site (Kristin Kraves Books) and thought it would be fun to do for this week! I love her page, definitely make sure you’re following her!

Hope you enjoy the answers. Have a great weekend!

Do you read more in the morning or at night?

Lately it’s been at night. After the babe (+my husband) have gone to bed I snuggle in for a few hours and read whatever book I’m currently reading.

Are there any books that changed the way you thought about things?

Oh, I feel like every other book I read does that to me. For instance, I finished The Simple Wild last night (or a few nights ago at the posting of this tag) and it made me consider a lot about my relationships with my loved ones. It doesn’t have to be non-fiction to cause a change in thought. But I’ve ready plenty of non-fiction (i.e. When Breath Becomes Air) that also has changed my thoughts about life.

YA or not?

ALL DAY. That’s what I mostly read. I don’t think anyone is too old to enjoy a good story, regardless of it’s “target audience.” I love reading YA and I will do so for the foreseeable future.

Are there characters that you honestly believe are real?

Not really. Are there characters I wish that were real? DEFINITELY. Especially in fantasy. But I’m also very aware that we don’t have *that* kind of magic happening in the real world.

In contemporaries and such, I don’t necessarily believe the characters are real. Though, since it is real life I can better believe that something like that could happen.

Nobody touches my books or I don’t mind loaning my books out?

Loan them to everyone (mostly). I actually have a few right now that are out with friends. it makes my heart unbelievably happy when a friend asks if they can borrow a book. OF COURSE YOU CAN. It’s like letting them take a tiny piece of my bookish soul.

Do you ever smell your books?

Eh, no. If I open a box and the scent wafts out, sure. But I don’t go up to my books and sniff them.

Not everyone loves books…is this a positive or negative?

Positive! I do secretly believe that there is a book for everyone, buuuut I know not everyone likes reading. AND THAT’S OKAY. Different interests and passions are what keeps ideas flowing in the universe.

Gosh, I have too many books! True or False?

False. I know I have around 300 books, but honestly it hasn’t grown much since 2016. I really dialed back how much I buy and y’all. Have you seen bookstgram? Some of those shelves have close to 1,000 books and I’m sitting here stunned by that fact. I think I would be overwhelmed if I had *that many*.

Have you ever spilled or stained books before with something, if so how?

With water, usually a few drops. I can’t remember the last time I full-on damaged a book though. *crosses fingers* I SHOULDN’T HAVE SAID THAT.

Toned or untoned? In other words, do you read and workout at the same time?

I do! If I’m on a cardio machine I will bring my book (in whatever format) and read while I’m running, biking, etc. I love how quickly it passes the time. I’ll listen to an audiobook occasionally as well, but when I lift I usually need a song to power through.

Since I wasn’t formally tagged, I’m not tagging anyone. So feel free to do this (and tag me in your answers if you’d like too!). What are some of your answers to these questions? Lets talk in the comments!

Book Tag Saturday: The Currently Reading Tag

I’ve seen this tag floating around, but not sure who created it initially. If you happen to know I’d love to credit that blog!

For real though, I am SO SORRY to be slacking on my Saturday tags. Wow, I noticed I haven’t posted any for 3+ weeks. It’s been a rough time in our household. I have depression that gets really bad every few months and with my leg injury + getting sick I have run myself into the ground.

Positive note though is that I have some new options for treatment. Hopefully getting a different blood test and seeing a specialist (we’re pretty sure it’s no longer just a stress fracture in both legs). Anywho, here’s the answers to this tag!

How Many Books Do You Usually Read At Once?

Two to three. It depends on what I’m reading, but I DO keep it to only one per device. So I’ll have an audiobook, a physical book, and a digital book going at one time generally (or audio + e-book OR physical). That way I can keep things straight.

How Do You Decide When To Switch Between Multiple Reads?

When I finish it? I rarely stop reading and pick up a different book. I either finish or DNF before I move on. If I’m involved in a book I don’t want to switch.

Do You Ever Switch Bookmarks Partway Through A Book?

WHAT IS THAT MADNESS? NO.

I have one bookmark. It’s a dinosaur holographic one from good ol’ Hastings (RIP). I’ve had it for a few years, and I hope to always have it.

Where Do You Keep the Book(s) You’re Currently Reading?

Wherever I am. No really, sitting on the couch? My book is underneath (hiding it from toddler). Riding in car? It’s in my lap/purse. I can’t help it. My husband calls them my comfort items. He gets me y’all.

What Time Of Day Do You Read The Most?

Before bed. Baby bedtime is at 7 PM. I usually work on my blog til 9 or so then read until 12 PM. Then I’ll get up before she wakes to read some more. It’s too complicated reading with her awake right now (which is fine! It’s a season of life). I like to make sure she’s getting the attention and communication she needs.

How Long Do You Typically Read In One Session?

1-3 hours. I take breaks every 2 chapters though. Either to scroll through Instagram or get up for a snack, drink, bathroom break, etc.

Do You Read Hardbacks With the Dust Jacket Off?

Do you read with them on?

Do you not fear damaging those beautiful jackets!?

The answer is yes, I take it off before even opening the book.

What Position Do You Mainly Use To Read?

I sit in our chair (with ottoman) most often. Other times I read on my side.

Do You Take Your Current Read With You Everywhere You Go?

I mentioned this in a previous question, but yes. It’s my comfort item. I like to make sure I have a book anywhere I go.

How often Do You Update Your Goodreads Reading Progress?

I update regularly when I start/finish reading a book. I don’t take the time to update my progress as I read though. I think it’s tedious and unnecessary. I want to see book reviews, not random babble as you finish the book so I don’t post mine either haha.

Keeping it simple this week and doing a short tag and not tagging anyone. Trying to get back into a groove so feel free to do this one and tag your answers in it!

What are some of your bookish habits? Lets talk in the comments!

Book Tag: What’s On Your Heart

Since I seem to love every tag Sara (The Bibliophagist) posts, I have done this one too! I like that this is more than books.

So without further ado, here’s the What’s On Your Heart tag.

HERE ARE THE RULES:

  • Thank the person who nominated you to participate.
  • Link back to the original post (Purple Rose’s & Dollfaced Writer’s)
  • Attach an image that inspires you regarding the month’s theme (or use the original).
  • Talk about what this month’s theme means to you.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Nominate 3 people to participate.
  • Enjoy the rest of your month

WHAT’S ON MY HEART:

I have a lot weighing me down right now, actually one specific thing. Both of my legs have stress fractures. And it’s been four weeks. And I’m still not progressing. It’s been a big weight on my family.

But in regards to my family. Gosh darn, I love them so much. It overwhelms me often. I look at my husband and toddler and can’t even handle how much joy they bring. I’m a seriously lucky gal.

THIS MONTH’S QUESTIONS:

Do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe in attraction at first sight. Of course you can look across the room and think someone is stunning and want to meet them. I wouldn’t call it love though. I feel like that takes a deeper understanding of each other.

Do you believe in soulmates?
In a way. I believe that there’s a small handful of people on the planet that are your personal soulmate. And depending where you are in life and ready to be with someone that’s when you might come across them.

What’s the first thing you notice about a person?
Their smile. The way it lights up their face.

What’s your ideal date?
Dinner, walking around talking and coming home to a baby already asleep *wink wink*.

What traits do you look for in a friend/significant other?
I mean, I guess the same things? Loyal, dependent, honest, easy to talk to. Probably a couple other things I can’t really think of right now.

What are your thoughts on being friends with an ex?
It’s fine depending on what degree. I don’t think (especially if you’re in a serious relationship with someone else) that you should talk to them every day. But I don’t think a dramatic break-up has to be necessary. Things can be amicable.

If you’re a believer, when did you give your heart to the Lord? If not, what in life keeps a bounce in your step?
I am a Christian. Have been my whole life. Not only does that keep a bounce in my step, but my family in general does. My husband is my best friend y’all. Seriously.

And since I love that Sara added some photos, here’s two of us!

Since I wasn’t formally tagged, I’m not tagging anybody! Feel free to do this. I love seeing your answers.

Book Tag Saturday: Books I’ll (Probably) Never Read

I saw this tag on a few blogs, including Sara’s (The Bibliophagist). Are you following her? Because she has the best posts, I love her blog!

Keeping it simple this Saturday with a short, but interesting tag.

1) A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading:

DON’T HATE ME. But, just haven’t felt like I want to read this. I’ll probably sit on it for a few, and see how I feel in a couple months. I think it’s size + high fantasy is daunting me. And it’s SO HYPED that I’m worried I won’t like it. Bookstagram has its weak points too.

2) A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing:

I made it through the first book, and DNF the second book. I love re-tellings, but I think that Wizard of Oz is not my fancy. No harm, I know now.

3) A classic you’re not interested in:

I have read a lot of classics, but this is one I could care less for. I have no desire to read a book about a whale.

4) A genre you never read:

Erotica. I prefer more mild love scenes, but when they are more explicit I want more story surrounding the relationship, and that the entire book wasn’t just to have sex.

5) A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read:

I read the first book, read the synopsis for book two and decided I had NO desire to continue this series. Crazy Rich Asians was good and I’m fine that I read it, but I think it should be a standalone.

Not tagging anyone, feel free to do this and let me know if you do. Have a great weekend!
